Welcome to

Est. 1989

We are indebted to the following sponsors of our activities, who, by donating various lots for our annual online auction which when sold, generate a very worthwhile contribution to our funds.

Should any members hear or know of any additional potential sponsors, please let us know and we will certainly follow up any lead.

The Bluebell Railway

We are pleased to announce that we have gained an additional new sponsor for our activities in the shape of the Bluebell Railway, one of the oldest, best and most well known heritage railway lines in the U.K., whose trains can often be heard and the steam and smoke seen when one is fishing at Piplye.

Located in the heart of Sussex, the Bluebell Railway run steam trains between Sheffield Park and East Grinstead, a distance of some 11 miles. The railway was one of the first preserved heritage lines in the country, commencing train services in August 1960. As a result, they have one of the finest collections of vintage steam locomotives and carriages in the country, many of which have been preserved straight out of service from British Railways.

In addition, there is an award winning museum, children’s play areas, including the ‘Elephant Van’ a soft play area for the younger visitors and ‘SteamWorks!’ an interactive exhibition of locomotives.

The Bluebell Railway is an ever-growing attraction for visitors of all ages, with special events and services throughout the year.

They have already donated a very generous lot for our 2019 online auction, the proceeds of which make a very worthwhile contribution to our funds and in return we feel that it is only right that we do our bit in promoting specific events at the railway and we look forward to a long, happy and fruitful relationship with them in the future. Over many years, we have enjoyed a really good relationship with Martin and Jessica Webster who own and operate Selectafly.com. As many of you will know, Selectafly offer an incredibly diverse and high quality range of flies which are available on line. They include several different ranges to choose from including their:

Original Range

Pro Range

Barbless Range

Fulling Mill – full range of patterns

Over 4,000 patterns are available on line at highly competitive prices.

What you may not know is that Selectafly have very kindly sponsored us for some years and have generously provided us with:

Sample packs of flies which we have distributed to novices having attended our courses.

Several boxes of flies which we award to the winner of or “have a go” casting draw at the South of England Show and the Autumn Game Fair.

Contributions to our Annual Auction including salmon flies which we have in the past had framed.

Fulling Mill barbless flies and vouchers.

We trust that you receive the incredibly interesting digital newsletters which Selectafly regularly produce and which we are happy to forward to all Cinder Hill Fly Fishing and current Salmon & Trout Conservation UK Sussex Branch members. These newsletters provide really interesting information on fly fishing during the year and can be a guide as to which flies are currently hot.

We know some members are sufficiently proficient and enjoy tying their own flies and thoroughly enjoy catching fish on a fly which they have tied themselves. Martin and Jessica however have been consistently generous in their support for us and we would urge all members to have a look at the extensive range of great flies offered at highly competitive prices. Please give them a go at:  www.selectafly.com
